How often will we meet?
I meet with individuals and couples at a minimum of once per week. Sessions are generally 50 minutes long unless otherwise arranged. After working together we may find it beneficial to meet for longer periods of time (such as 75 minutes) especially if we are doing couple therapy. We may also decide together that it makes sense to meet more than once a week. Meeting two or more times a week can deepen the work and often lead to you feeling better more quickly.
What is the cost?
My fee is mid-range for the Bay Area and commensurate with therapists with my degree of experience. Please inquire to know my current fee. I do reserve 20% of my practice for low income queer or trans people or therapists in training who are unable to afford my full fee. Please contact me if this applies to you and I can let you know if I have space available. All fees are due at the time of the session.
How long will it take?
The answer to this depends on what you would like to accomplish. Some people come in with a situational problem that can be resolved in a few months. Others arrive with more long-standing problems seeking to make significant transformations in their lives. These treatments require more time. Additionally what you wish to accomplish in therapy may change as we work together. It will be important for the two of us to stay in communication around this.
Will my insurance pay?
I am currently on the Anthem Blue Cross panel as an in-network provider. Please let me know if you are interested in using your Anthem Blue Cross insurance. Additionally, I am accepted by most insurance companies as an out-of-network provider. Please check with your benefits to see if you are covered. Fees will be due at the time of our session and I will provide you with a statement at the end of each month for you to submit to your insurance company.
What about medication?
As a psychotherapist, I do not prescribe medication. If we decide together that you could benefit from a medication evaluation I can provide you with a referral to a trusted psychiatrist. I am also happy to provide referrals to other holistic practitioners.
